Each game will have a moderator. The moderator(s) will read the questions, award and deduct points, and enforce the rules of competition.
Each game will have at least three judges. All judges' decisions concerning compliance to the rules and awarding of points will be final. Students are allowed to appeal to whether a question is correct or not, and the judges will confer with the student to explain the correctness of the question.
Each game will have at least one scorekeeper. The scorekeeper(s) will keep the official score and individual statistics. Games will not be considered final until the scorekeeper has declared the official score.
Each game will have one timekeeper. The timekeeper will enforce time limits and supervise the game clock.
At the Tournament, each player will be provided with a buzzer – an electronic device that determines which player buzzes in to answer a question first. A screen might be used to display questions that need visual aid.
In all rounds (5 minutes each), the clock starts when the moderator begins reading the toss-up question. When the clock sounds the end of time, the game shall end. The team with more points at the end of the game wins. In the event of a tie, there will be an overtime period consisting of three toss-up questions.
Each game uses toss-up questions worth 10 points each. Questions are selected from a pre-screened question bank and cover topics such as Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
An appeal is a team’s petition to reconsider a decision on an answer. Each team will be allowed one (1) appeal per game, with a potential second appeal if the first is successful. No more than two appeals are allowed per game.
All participants must behave responsibly and ethically, treating others with courtesy, not receiving or giving impermissible assistance, and abiding by all decisions of tournament officials.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three highest-scoring individuals, with ₦1,000,000 for 1st place, ₦750,000 for 2nd place, and ₦500,000 for 3rd place. Laptops and exciting giveaways will also be given to top students, their teachers, and schools.
